Belfast Fashion Week 10th Anniversary

As most of you will know, Belfast Fashion Week is always one of the biggest events on my style calendar, but this season, on their tenth anniversary celebration I was delighted to be asked to join in.
They planned a "Blogger/Stylist Charity Shop Challenge" were each of us were asked to pick a charity of our own choice and style ten catwalk ready outfits from their stores.
I chose to represent St. Vincent De Paul and I was absolutely delighted with the selection of clothes that I had to choose from.
I wanted my collection to be high fashion with a quirky edge and the items in Vincents Boutique, Antrim rd. really gave me scope to bring this idea to life.
I decided to not only style from the womenswear section of the shop, but I wanted to be a little more adventurous so I played on the idea of the androgynous trend and took items from menswear.
For example, one of my favourite outfits was made up of a man's Aran knit sweater, a mans tweed blazer, a trilby hat and a little pair of combat shorts.
Charity shops have taken a surge in growth recently, particularly due to the recession and they really are little treasure troves of pre-loved items, all in perfect condition looking for a new home - and the best part is, not one of my entire outfit collection cost more than £10.
So if you're on the lookout for a quirky new outfit and you are fed up with buying on the highstreet, seeing ten people in the same thing, then take a trip to your local charity shop! You might just find that perfect look for a fraction of the price and you will be safe in the knowledge that you are supporting a wonderful cause.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Lisa Bell and all at Cathy Martin PR for asking me to be involved in the challenge, to Ruairi and Ciara from St. Vincent De Paul for all of their help and support, to Brendan Gallagher for providing the images from the catwalk and to my friend Aisling who assisted me in the styling process!
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and I hope you like my outfit choices.

Forest of Dreams

IMG_6241

Sometimes there is nothing better to clear your mind than a refreshing walk on a sunny Spring afternoon. Being the day-dreamer that I am, I love to wander new surroundings and find inspiration in nature.
Wearing this dark green leopard print dress, I unintentionally camouflaged into the background of this beautiful forest. At times, the only things that were visible were the sparkles on my customised converse!
Have you got a special place that you like to visit to clear your mind?

St. Patrick's Day

IMG_1364

Today is a day to celebrate all things Irish, so to get into the spirit of things I decided I was going to wear green for the occasion!
For being such a small country, Ireland and of St. Patrick's day have a widespread effect across the globe with some of the worlds most famous monuments lit up in green to celebrate!
Everyone know that the Irish love to have a "bitta craic" and it is a great excuse to do so as a nation.
I would like to wish all of my readers, those that are Irish and those that are not, a very happy and safe St. Patrick's day - grab yourself a Guinness and let the celebrations begin!

Pink and Red - The Cardinal Sin

IMG_0285

Growing up, I never would have dared to mix the colours Red & Pink. It was always one of fashions "rules" that many people were scared to break. However, nowadays rules are very much made to be broken! Clashing is ok and often tends to work better as an overall look. I decided to work the two colours together for this look as I think it really works well. Its strong yet very girly and feminine.
One of the biggest trends for S/S'14 is the midi skirt and I absolutely adore this one from Topshop. I don't have the ideal body shape to carry off the midi length skirt but this one, with the slits up the sides is perfect as a glimpse of leg adds length to the silhouette.
I chose the pink cropped jumper from Topshop to embrace the ever so slight change in the weather. I cannot wait to be able to wear my Spring/Summer clothes without shivering.
Are any of you brave enough to clash colours or even prints this season?
