Louis Vuitton S'S'14 Cocktail Party

IMG_1154

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2014 cocktail party at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. Being one of my favourite designer brands, it is always exciting to get a sneaky peek at what to expect for the coming season… and to do so with cocktails and champagne… What could be better?
This season is particularly poignant as it is the final collection from Marc Jacobs before he steps down as creative director. I have always loved his designs but to me, this is his best yet and he is definitely going out with a bang.
Although black is not a colour that I would have expected to be at the forefront of a Summer collection, I have to say I am in love with the punk rock element of the pieces.
From studs and spikes to statement jewellery and headpieces, this collection was right up my street!
Marc Jacobs dedicates the collection to "the women who inspire (him) and to the showgirl in everyone of them" and to me that is exactly what it epitomises - Strength, femininity and power!
As well as the key show collection and the classic monogram styles there were also several others on display on the night, my particular favourite being the sweetheart collection, just in time for Valentines day! So all you men out there, do take heed - the lady in your lives will thank you for it!
The Men's collections had a real "Summer on the yacht" vibe, with deck shoes and cute nautical accessories, I particularly loved the tan leather Keepall, I would love this myself as it is the perfect way to travel in style!
Let me know what you guys think of the S/S'14 collection and as usual I'd like to say a huge thank you to Anna Reiter, Aideen, Caroline and all of the team at Louis Vuitton for the kind invitation!

Biker Chick

IMG_0998

As most of you may know, this year I have gone back to college to study Fashion and Textiles.
I absolutely love my course and I'm in my element when I am creating my own unique designs.
This tartan skirt is the first piece that I designed and finished myself and I am so proud of it.
Tartan has been such a huge trend for the last few seasons and I just love the idea of combining it with leather. To me, it gives it even more of a rock and roll edge.
I decided to make the waistband of the skirt almost like a corset, drawing your eye to the lace up back and making it one of the main features of the design.
I didn't exactly set myself an easy challenge for a first attempt at dress-making by picking such a patterned fabric but I was really pleased at how I managed to match it up and present it!
I thought the vibe of the skirt screamed "Biker Chick" so what better way to photograph it than on a top of the range Yamaha R1 motorbike! Definitely the way to get a serious adrenaline rush whilst showing off the skirt in the best possible way.
I hope you love my first design and you can look forward to many more to come! Who knows, you may even be purchasing one of my unique creations some time in the very near future!

River Island S/S'14 preview

IMG_1286

On Wednesday I attended the River Island press preview for the S/S'14 collection.
I was absolutely blown away by the funky new colours and patterns that we can expect to see filtering into the stores over the next few months.
From bold floral prints to graphic designs and pretty pastel colours to bejewelled statement necklaces, this coming season, River Island will have everything you want and more. There were 6 different collections to be viewed on the day: Sports Mono, Classic Plastic, Posh Pastels, Tribal Grunge, Print Clash, and Metallic. Each one more exciting and eye-catching than the last!
I spent the afternoon perusing the beautiful items and making a mental shopping list of what I would like to purchase myself. My own personal favourites have to be the stunning green jumpsuit, the floral embossed leather jackets and the travel cosmetic bag but I have to say, I loved every piece!
Even the menswear and children's collections were full of wonderfully bright colours and patterns.
Some of the items in the pictures are already available in stores and online however the rest will be coming in over the next few months so keep an eye out incase you miss one of your favourite items!
As well as the fashions on display, there was also an incredible "edible" beach installation made entirely of cake, icing and honeycombe!
The final bonus of the day was that the talented Holly Shortall, top fashion illustrator, was in attendance and was creating images of all of the guests! Check out the cool illustration she drew of me at the bottom of the post!
I would like to say a huge thank you to Emma and all of the team at River Island for inviting me to attend the preview! I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to shop the new collection.
