Simple Nail Art #1 - Leopard Print

I am by no means an expert at nail art but one thing I love to do is experiment! Even right back to when I was in secondary school I used to decorate my nails with a tippex pen! Thankfully beauty products have developed since then and you can now pick up many different products to help you design them in any way you choose!
I got the "Tipps" set in Toys R Us in New York and they are fabulous! The colour selection is great and ties in with almost any design that you could imagine! I picked up the pink and black "Nail Art" pens in Topshop.
This was one of the first designs I created so here is a little step by step guide for you guys to try at home! Here's hoping you have a more steady hand than I do! Let me know how it goes!

Selection Of Colours

STEP ONE : Paint nails with base colour of your choice! I went for white!

IMG_8297

STEP TWO: Start to create a polka dot pattern on nails with different colours

IMG_8303

STEP THREE: Vary the colours of the polka dots

IMG_8306

STEP FOUR: Outline the polka dots with a back edge on the top and bottom of each one to create the leopard print effect. (Don't be too specific, it doesn't have to be perfect)

IMG_8307

STEP FIVE: Continue this on every nail, or you can pick one to leave blank for a different pattern like I have

STEP SIX: I then filled in the blank nail using the black pen in a zebra stripe pattern

STEP SEVEN: Apply a top coat to set then sit back and admire your work

Hallowe'en Ideas

IMG_2819

Its that time of year again when all of our creative juices are flowing and we are planning what to wear for Hallowe'en!
As a drama graduate I am obsessed with getting dressed up and have decided to put together a collection of my past costumes to help give you some ideas.
I am not a fan of the really girly store bought costumes, I would much rather put together something scary and a little bit more unique. I particularly love to get creative with face-paints.
If any of you would like some tips or even a tutorial on how to achieve any of the looks below please do let me know!
My costume for this year is top secret but all will be revealed on All Hallows Eve!

Ballyliffin Hotel Bridal Fayre 2013

Last Sunday I was delighted to model at the Ballyliffin Hotel Wedding Fayre.
I had such a fabulous time at this event last year that I couldn't wait to see what they had in store this time around (See last years here).
The morning started with hair and makeup at the newly opened salon "Prestige Hair and Beauty" in Carndonagh where myself and the other models were transformed into "Brides to Be".
We then made our way to the hotel where we got to try on the beautiful Wedding and Bridesmaids dresses from Butterfly Bridal, Moville and match them up with stunning jewellery from E M Noones Jewellers in Carndonagh.
It was so nice mingling with the crowd of engaged couples and watching their excitement as they perused each stall imagining what it would be like for them on their big day.
We then took part in a catwalk show followed by the chance to check out the amazing Bridal suite and the gorgeous wedding cars ( I even got the opportunity to sit in a Go-Kart with my "Groom" for the day, something I am sure not a lot of brides could say that they did in their wedding dresses).
The photographs were taken on the day by the talented Liseagh photography and I have included a selection of my favourites below along with a few snapshots by fellow model Aisling from my own camera!
It was an absolutely beautiful day and I'd like to say a huge thank you to Linda Callaghan for asking me to be a part of it!
Congratulations on yet another successful Wedding Fayre.

Belfast Fashion Week A/W'13

IMG_0185

On Saturday past I attended the Belfast Fashion Week A/W'13 Local Designer's show at the Ulster Museum.
As always the talent and fashion on display was totally awe inspiring. It is so refreshing to see such creativity right on our doorstep.
I travelled to Belfast with some of my friends from my Fashion course and when we arrived at the Museum we were greeted, as ever, with a refreshing West Coast Cooler, who are the main sponsors of the event but I, being the designated driver chose the non-alcoholic option from fellow sponsors Diet Coke.
I had the chance to catch up with some friends before taking my seat to watch the show.
With fashions from Ruedi, Dave Henderson fashions accompanied by Marie-Claire Ferguson Millinery, Riona Treacy, Nor-Lisa Fashion, Goddess & Swift, Grainne Maher and Shauna Fay, there was something to suit every age, every taste and every style.
The talent from the established designers was, of course stunning as always but the show finale came in the shape of unique creations from secondary students who had entered the "Junk Kouture" competition for which they made outfits from recycled materials. If these guys are the future generation of Irish fashion then it is indeed very exciting.
For the show I decided to wear an oversized shirt from "All Saints" with a pair of quilted leather shorts from Topshop. I kept the accessories to a minimum with a Chanel Jumbo Flap handbag and my spiked Jeffrey Campbell "Lita" boots.
For the show, I had my makeup applied by the talented Lisa Dillon of the MakeUp Studio by Lisa. Lisa was hot off the plane from doing make up at London Fashion Week and this talented lady gave me a fresh and funky look for the night!
Unfortunately I only got to attend one show of Belfast Fashion Week this season but I look forward to the next which will be its tenth birthday and it set to be bigger and better than ever!
