Benefit Cosmetics Party

IMG_9628

This week I was delighted to be invited to attend the Benefit Cosmetics Party in Cara Pharmacy, Donegal Town.
The evening was set up beautifully in the Pharmacy with a stand of girly pink refreshments and the Bene-Babes doing their thing, giving members of the public cool new makeovers.
I enjoyed some of the chocolate covered strawberries whilst perusing the funky cosmetics.
I then took my seat for my own Bene-makeover.
My "Bene-Babe" was Anna and she gave me a full skin care treatment followed by a makeup application, talking me through each product, the benefits of them and how best to apply them.
I learned a lot in the process, particularly about skin care. I am one of those lazy girls that commits the cardinal sin of removing makeup with a face wipe... to gasps and awes I admitted this and after a chastising from the crew I gave in to the luxuriousness of the makeup removers, the toners and the moisturisers.
Anna started by removing my makeup with "Remove It," an oil free cleanser, she then used "Moisture Prep" toner and finished with "Triple Performance Facial Emulsion", an oil free, light moisturiser. She applied some "It's Potent" eye-cream which I was saddened to hear that at the tender age of 26 I should be starting to use.
For the makeover, Anna started by covering any flaws or breakouts with "Fake-Up" super hydrating Vitiman E concealer and then applied "Pore-Fessional" primer to smooth out any uneven skin or open pores.
I asked for the best coverage foundation so Anna used "Play Sticks" foundation in colour "Jump Rope". This gave me such a fresh feeling as if I was wearing no make up whatsoever.
She then dusted some "Hello Flawless" powder over the top in colour "Toasted Beige" to set everything in place.
The look was finalised with "Watts Up" highlighter on my brow and cheek bones and brought to life with a mix of "Rockateur" blusher (which is being launched on the 7th September and can be pre-ordered here) and Bella Bamba blusher. A sleek of "Hoola" bronzer and I was all set.
I would love to say a huge thank you to Louise Howe and all at Cara Pharmacy for inviting me to attend the Party and for the beautiful free gifts that I received. I would also like to thank Bene-Babes Anna and Tara who gave my Mum a stunning makeover!
I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I am like a kid in a sweet shop trying out all my fab new Benefit Cosmetics.

GROW - Promoting Mental Health at Freshers Weeks

IMG_8409

As we all know this time of year brings the Summer season to an end.
As Autumn is looming, so too is a host of new opportunities and for some, a host of brand new problems and fears.
There are hundreds of thousands of people all over the world getting ready to embark on a new adventure, starting college for the first time, going back to re-train, moving away from home etc. and whilst for most this can be incredibly exciting, there are times when it can get too much.
I myself face this daunting prospect as I have made a possibly life changing decision to go back to the world of books this September which could lead my life in a very different but exciting direction, so I can relate to the fears felt by any of my readers in a similar situation.
Although the emphasis on college or university is often put on the importance of partying, studying etc. one thing that is often overlooked is the importance of Mental Health. Nowadays it is becoming more and more apparent that something needs to be done to raise awareness of the issues that we, as human beings can face in everyday life and GROW, an Irish charity aimed at doing so, are engaging in a plan to get this into freshers weeks nationwide and raise awareness among first year students all over the country.
Working together with the Union of Students of Ireland, the charity are going to be making their presence known in a vast amount of campuses educating students and lecturers alike, promoting a healthy mental well-being, making students aware of the services they provide and drawing attention to the fact that there are people and organizations there to help when things become a bit too much.
In recent times our country has suffered as a result of the suicide "epidemic". More and more precious lives are being lost and unfortunately a huge stigma still remains around the topic. Through GROW's campaign to raise awareness of depression in Ireland and provide a safe haven for those who are suffering at the hands of this terrible illness, they are slowly but surely doing their part to release the stigma and allow people to talk openly and honestly.
They have realised that the first year of college or university can be a very vulnerable time in any persons life and through this project they aim to help.
For the most part, my blog is aimed at clothes, shoes, handbags & makeup but this time around I am writing about the key trend for this season and a must have no matter what your style or budget. the ability to talk, to seek help and to fight for your mental health.
Remember, if you are a student affected by depression, isolation, fear or sadness of any description, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, GROW are here to help!
Watch out for their flyers in the fresher's pack and if you see a stand at your campus please pop over and say hello! Your life is so precious, they know it and they want to help you to realise it too!

Marbella Fashion Week

IMG_8983

Last week I had the pleasure of attending Marbs Fashion Week at Nikki Beach, Marbella.
You might remember my post about Essex Fashion Week a few months back, (seen here) well Marbella Fashion Week is run by the same team except this time around the show took place right by the beach in the heat and surroundings of the beautiful Spanish seaside resort.
The evening started out with a glass of champagne and fire-breathers entertaining the audience on the sand. As the sun began to set we then took our seats to watch the superb catwalk show which featured some of the top designers from the UK and elsewhere. The runway came alive with spectacular creations by Lady Muck Couture, Chateau Boutique, The Pussydoll Palace, Utter Nutter, Virgin Rebel, OJT Designs, Tresor Paris and Viginity Couture. Each look more stunning than the last.
There was also an amazing interpretive dance performance by "Pastiche" during the interval in which their costumes were lit up in funky neon lights.
I even made a brief appearance on the catwalk myself. There was a competition to win a piece of jewellery from event sponsors "Tresor Paris" and the challenge was to show the audience your best catwalk. For comedy value and moral support, myself and the fab Scott Coglan who was also taking part decided to walk together and proceeded to perform our own version of "Strictly Come Dancing" at the bottom of the runway! It was so much fun and as a reward we each received a beautiful "Tresor Paris" bracelet.
After the show was over, we attended the VIP after party where I got to dance the night away with the organisers, designers, models and other guests.
For the event I wanted to dress to suit the weather, so I chose a sunshine yellow outfit from Boudoir Boutique. The crop top is by Tempest and the embellished "Mollie" skirt is from one of my favourite brands Virgos Lounge. I accessorised the look with a statement necklace, a Louis Vuitton Clutch and some gold heels by Carvela.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Adam and Simon Ryan for yet another amazing evening at one of their fashion weeks and congratulations to you both for making it a huge success! I cannot wait 'til the next one!
