Candy Stripe

IMG_6170

So my blog has been a little quiet of late, due to the fact that I was busy organising - "Lights, Camera, Fashion," a fashion show in aid of my local leisure centre which is in trouble at the moment.
I did not realise the amount of work involved and even though I loved every minute of it I found it a little difficult to keep on top of everything else in my life.
So as I await the photographs of the event which, in the end, was a huge success, I decided to share some pictures with you from my day yesterday.
I chose a casual look to chill out at the cinema for the evening, wearing a candy stripe boyfriend shirt from Jack Wills and a pair of skinny jeans from River Island.
As much as I love many different styles, I think it is hard to beat a classic shirt and denim for a nice, clean-cut look.
I teamed the look with a pair of Kurt Geiger studded heels to add just a little touch of glamour to the look!

Lights, Camera, Fashion

422658_496749387028536_2072959176_n

On Friday the 26th of April, The old Plaza Ballroom in Buncrana, Co.Donegal will be become a fashion hub.
I have organised a fashion show in aid of my local Leisure Centre who are unfortunately on the brink of closure. As an avid swimmer since I was a child, the daughter of the chairperson and a frequent visitor to the centre to host drama and zumba classes, it is a cause which is very close to my heart.
I decided to use my passion for fashion to put something together to raise some vital funds for Buncrana Leisure Centre and so "Lights, Camera, Fashion" was born.
The show will take place at 8pm with tickets priced at a very reasonable €10.
The audience members will be in for such a treat on the night with local boutiques and designers showing as well as some of the top Irish and Northern Irish designers making their Donegal Debut.
We have some amazing stores showing on the night such as Boudoir Boutique, Identity, Blush Boutique, Ginos/NV, The Bridal Showroom and Pippa Boutique.
We also have some fabulous designers such as Nor Lisa Fashion, Rebro Jewellery, Una Rodden, Mohawk Fashion Designs, John Paul Couture, Finders Keepers Couture, Audreys Millinery, Bitchen Bits and Tara Henderson International. An absolutely incredible line up which has the makings of an amazing fashion experience.
The entertainment on the night comes in the form of our very own superstar, Miss Roisin Carlin, fresh from "The Voice of Ireland" tv show as well as some great local dance and drama crews like my own Masquerade Stage School, Elite Dance Crew and Jazz it Up Dance Academy.
We also have a few surprises planned for the night but I'll keep those top secret.
I am overwhelmed by the generosity of people willing to offer their time, services and some fabulous raffle prizes for the evening. The lucky winners will be in line for vouchers for the fabulous Boudoir Boutique, Hair and Make Up Vouchers, HD brow treatments, Eyelash extensions, Dinner in the beautiful Ballyliffin Hotel, Driving lessons... and that is to name but a few!
If you have any enquiries about tickets please contact me on Nicola@thesequincinderella.com or check out the event page on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/events/613954101953831/?fref=ts
Below you can check out some of my previous outfits which have hailed from a small selection of the shops and designers taking part in the show!
If you do plan to come to "Lights, Camera, Fashion" please do come and say hi and I'd like to say a huge thank you once again to everyone who has helped in anyway!
I am so excited for this fashion packed evening for such a worthy cause!

The Abandoned Railroad

IMG_6034

Last weekend we finally saw a break in the weather and the first glimpse of summer appeared through the clouds.
Although still a windy day, I took the opportunity to bare my legs in a rock chick style dress from Topshop and my old faithful "Chiara Ferragni" biker boots to go for a stroll along the water.
One of my favourite places to walk is by the abandoned railroad in Derry/Londonderry which stretches along the banks of the River Foyle.
As a child I used to listen to my Grandmother's stories of how she would often get the train to Donegal from the city so to visit the old station and the barren tracks I almost felt like I was stepping in to history, and retracing the steps she once took.
I love how the eeriness of the deserted surroundings goes hand in hand with the rocker style of my outfit for the day, which was perfectly complimented my studded handbag, a birthday gift from my brother.

Debbie Fanning Millinery

IMG_5981

You may have seen from my recent post that I was lucky enough to be asked to present "Hatwalk 2013" in which I saw some absolutely stunning hats and headpieces.
One, however, stood out to me from the audience which I quickly rushed to compliment.
I later found out that the lady I spoke to was Debbie Fanning, a young, up and coming milliner from Dublin and the stunning hat that she wore was one of her own creations.
You can imagine my excitement in the coming days when I was contacted by the talented Debbie, saying she wanted to send me this beautiful headpiece which I had so admired that evening.
I love to wear hats, to me they add a touch of glamour to an outfit and I cannot wait to wear this piece as I have just the perfect dress in mind to match it with.
Debbie completed her training with Irish Milliner, Janette Pegley-Reed at the Irish School of Millinery & Design and over the coming months she will be undertaking further training with top Milliner Aoife Kirwan.
Not only is Debbie fast acquiring a huge fan base, she also has a celebrity clientele and in 2012, London based singer Gabby Young of "Gabby Young and the other Animals" was photographed wearing one of her creations. (Pic below).
Debbie has a range of one off bespoke pieces available at Beaux Bows in Georges Street Arcade, Dublin 2 - Oasis Florist, Terenure, Dublin 6w and at her Etsy store.
She also makes one off pieces for anybody who requires something a little different for a day at the races, weddings or any other special events so I would strongly advise that you check out this girls website as she is definitely one to watch!
Huge thank you to Debbie for my beautiful piece and I look forward to wearing more of your hats in the future!

On Top of The World

IMG_5921

I love being up high... be it on a skyscraper building or on sky scraper heels. I love that feeling of walking tall and over looking the earths treasures below.
This beautiful place is a hidden gem among a busy city, the very top of a hill over looking the sky line of the metropolis below.
This particular evening, I was set to go out for dinner after my evening stroll so I chose to wear a nude studded leather skirt from Miss Selfridge, but I made the outfit a tad more practical and "walk appropriate" with a cosy knitted cardigan from River Island.
As I strolled along the hill top (albeit slowly, bearing in mind I had also donned the sky scraper heels) I couldn't help but admire the sun setting on the stunning scenery below and feel as if I really were on Top of the World!
