Radio 1's Big Weekend - Day 2

Look Two #radioone #onebigweekend #obw #BigWeekend #derry #londonderry #festival #fringe #suede #floral

Here is the look I chose for the second day of Radio 1's Big Weekend.
On the first day I had dressed for rain and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful Summer's day we had, perfect to enjoy the main stage outside on the banks of the River Foyle.
For Day 2 I got carried away and decided to go for a more Summery festival style with a tan suede fringed jacket from Forever 21 and a floral dress from A Wear, and wouldn't you know... the heavens opened and it poured with rain the entire day!
It didn't matter however, as the wide variety of superstar acts took my mind off getting soaked.
From Ellie Goulding to Labrinth and Kendrick Lamar to Biffy Clyro, the ecclectic mix of amazing music brought an atmosphere to the city that was otherwise unknown on a dark, damp day.

Summer Wish List

IMG_0333

As it is the middle of May and the weather in Ireland is something resembling mid-winter, I find myself dreaming about the Summer on many an occasion!
I am a relatively new user to the webpage "Pinterest" and was delighted that one of the first things I came across on the site was a Pin to Win Competition run by Figleaves.com, an amazing online swimwear retailer. The prize is a holiday collection of your choice to the value of £150.
Looking through their vast array of beautiful swimwear and Summer attire only furthered my wishful thoughts of days by the beach so I decided to pick my own Summer "must-haves" from their site that I would choose if I won the prize.
I also wanted to show you exactly how I would complement my choice with my sun savvy wish-list.
There were so many beautiful bikinis and swimsuits to choose from but my first choice was the absolutely stunning "Seafolly Festival" bikini with matching maxi skirt which you can see below. The print is so eye-catching and perfect to cut a dash at any summer beach party!
When I thought of how I would wear this beautiful ensemble, I immediately envisioned Kurt Geiger's stunning Summer collection. The orange, patterned wedges pictured below are the perfect match.
I am a huge fan of Doloris Petunia jewellery and the bracelet that I chose from her range is simply spectacular! I can just imagine the sun reflecting off the jewels whilst sipping cocktails by the waters edge!
I added the Louis Vuitton "Noe-ful" handbag to the list simply because I fell in love with it when I previewed the collection and thought it was the perfect summer tote. Finally to top off the look I picked out a gorgeous pair of blinged up sunglasses by Prada.
No Summer outfit would be complete without the perfect glowing skin, so I chose some of my favourite beauty products to help you get beach ready and also to compliment this lovely patterned bikini.
Soap and Glory provide amazing moisturisers which smell like Summer in a bottle, the ideal way to keep your skin soft and fresh. Mac cosmetics Summer collection is full of wonderful colours and tones to reflect the suns rays and to top it all off, I recently had the opportunity to try new organic spray tan "OCC Consicence Clear" which is the perfect way to become a bronzed Goddess whilst protecting your skin from harmful rays and chemicals.

So don't forget, to be in with a chance to win a holiday collection to the value of £150, all you have to do is follow "figleaves" on pinterest, pin one of your figleaves Summer "must-haves" to your own site then post the link to their page. You can find all of the details and links included in this post below.
Good Luck!

Radio 1's Big Weekend - Day 1

One Big Weekend #RadioOne #OneBigWeekend #Summer #Festival #Music

Wow!
What a night I had last night at the opening show of Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2013 City of Culture, Derry/Londonderry.
Ebrington Square came alive with an influx of the hottest music acts from all over the world and I was there to enjoy every minute.
I had never really been to a music festival before as the thought of being covered in mud from my head to my toes had never really appealed to me, however this beautiful paved venue made the perfect location for me to experience a festival "sans mudbath".
The gig kicked off with the fabulous Dizzee Rascal rocking the Main Stage with a surprise appearance from the one and only Robbie Williams.
The audience were in high spirits enjoying the beautiful sunshine which is a rarity in our Irish climate. We danced the night away to sounds from Rudimental, Katy B, Chase and Status, Pete Tong, Maverick Sabre to name but a few, but the "piece de la resistance" came in the form of the two headliner acts! Calvin Harris lit up the main stage and indeed the whole of the city with a mind-blowing D.J. set and light show and on the 1 Extra stage miss Rita Ora stunned the crowd with an unreal live set.
I always admired her as an artist but I had no idea she was such an incredible live performer.
As for festival gear, I had no idea what to wear. In my minds eye I imagined denim cut-offs and floral headbands, however the sensible side of my brain chose to wear something a little more weather appropriate. I chose a black ensemble with a leather coat from All Saints, Studded boots and bag and I "punked" it up a little with a bowler hat from Topshop and a "McQueen" skull scarf.
I cannot wait to attend the next two days of the festival and as the sun is shining a little more today, my mind is in over drive as to what to wear?
Stay tuned to see the final decision!

La Redoute

IMG_7125

Today I was delighted when a little package came through the door from La Redoute containing these fabulous printed trousers!
With their paisley pattern and light denim colours they are bang on trend for the Summer season...
It is just a pity that the Irish weather has yet to catch up!
Due to my body shape I find it very difficult to get trousers that fit nicely but I felt very comfortable in this particular pair.
I matched them up with a fringed top from "Rare London" and a flower headband which was made specially for me by "Bloomin' Marvellous". I love the Hippie vibe of this outfit and it really gets me in a wishful mood, longing for the bright evenings and dreaming of Summer festivals.
La Redoute is an amazing online store stocking everything from Women and Men's clothing to shoes and accessories. It is the one stop shop for an entire outfit to accompany you to any occasion and is definitely worth a look! Particularly if you want to pick up an unusual find for a bargain price.

OCC - ConScience Clear Tan

IMG_6759

Last week I was delighted to be invited to come along to RoCo Hair in Derry/Londonderry to try out their very own brand of organic spray tan which they had recently launched.
RoCo is one of the top salons in the city winning numerous awards for their unique organic products. The salon experience is second to none with stunning surroundings, lively atmosphere and a coffee bar to rival any Starbucks.
Due to my complexion and the colour of my eyes and hair, I absolutely love to be tan, in fact when I'm not I can look very washed out so you can imagine my excitement when I was offered the chance to preview this amazing new product.
OCC - ConScience Clear Tan is totally organic, made right here in Ireland with certified organic ingredients fresh from the Swiss Alps. Most importantly this tan is completely odourless. There is nothing worse than applying fake tan and walking around smelling like biscuits for the rest of the day so this is the perfect solution.
The tan comes in three different shades, light, medium and dark. Of course I chose the dark and I was not disappointed.
The application took place in a beautifully decorated tanning room by the fabulous Ciara Walker (who you can see modelling the tan herself in the video below). I was amazed at how quickly the spray dried and was even more amazed as the hours passed and I watched my skin turn a perfect shade of tan.
I was wary of choosing the darkest shade incase I morphed into an "oompa loompa" ala Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, however the tan was absolutely even and looked incredibly natural.
As someone who wears fake tan on a regular basis, I have always questioned the safety of having such harsh chemicals on your skin at all times, so to find a brand of tan that is totally organic is a huge weight off my mind.
I would like to say a big thank you to Ronan, Conor and the team at RoCo for inviting me to try out their wonderful new product. I wish them all the success in the world with this latest venture and if my own personal experience is anything to go by, then they can only go from strength to strength!
