Lady in Red

IMG_7856
As much as I love to blog about clothes, shoes and handbags, I also love to share my beauty regime with you, along with my makeup trends and hair experimentations.
I have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to work with some amazing hairstylists and makeup artists over the past year including winner of E4's "Great British Hairdresser" Keris Weir and award winning member of the Northern Irish Hairdressing team, Tara Henderson.
Both of these girls are geniuses in their fields and can create masterpieces with a makeup brush or a hairbrush in their hands.
This look was put together by both of the girls.
Keris was responsible for my amazing hair, using her new line of hair weaves and extensions called "Keris Rocks", whilst Tara worked wonders on my makeup. You might remember their amazing works from my past post - Sequins and Glamour...
As nice as it is to treat ourselves to a trip to the salon for some pampering, there are times when it is just not possible. Maybe we are tied up with work commitments during opening hours, or maybe, in this current recessive climate, some of us simply cannot afford to go as often as we would like.
However, nowadays theres is a wonderful website at our fingertips called Groupon, an international company bringing millions of bargain beauties together on the worldwide web.
One could spend hours upon hours browsing this amazing site for discounts and deals but for all you fashion savvy babes, here is the shortcut to your all you beauty bargain needs
Here you can find vouchers for everything beauty related, from treatments at the beauticians to reductions on accessories to complete any look.
Imagine living a luxurious lifestyle and pampering yourself as often as you like, for a fraction of the price... well Groupon is your place!
One thing we also need to remember when it comes to looking good, is that with a little help from our friends "Google" and "Youtube", we can learn to recreate salon perfect looks at home. We don't even have to spend a fortune on the products. Again with Groupon you will find amazing reductions on makeup to start your own collection and create whatever kind of style you like.
So if you want beauty at a bargain, just go to groupon.com and browse 'til your hearts content!

Christmas at River Island

IMG_9440
As most of you can tell from my blog, one of my favourite high street stores is River Island.
Almost every one of my posts contains something from the brand, be it as simple as a pair of earrings or as extreme as an entire outfit.
I just love the fact that they have such beautiful pieces but all at affordable prices.
So you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to come along to a preview of the Christmas collection before it hits the shelves!
When I entered the room I was in total fashion heaven, I can safely say this will be one of River Island's most opulent collections to date so be ready to stock your winter wardrobes with some vibrantly beautiful new pieces.
The new designs fully embody the festive season with the focus being mainly on Black and Gold with a mass of sequins thrown in for good measure.
Every piece looked as if it were fresh off a runway in Milan, Paris or New York.
From cosy knits and faux furs to studded baseball caps and decadent jewellery, this collection has everything a girl could ask for no matter what her style may be.
Inspired by the Baroque trend, the "intricate embellishment, jacquards and whimsical prints are used to cement this look and are found on tailored trouser suits, full skirted prom dresses and flamboyant accessories. Brocade bomber jackets, decorative body jewellery and matt gold sequin hot pants are added to create a more contemporary feel."
One piece of exciting news that I can share with you is that the upcoming designer collaboration with William Tempest is one to watch! His "exclusive range draws inspiration from Egyptian mythology, 1920's interiors and the work of M.C. Escher." His intricate use of sequins and lace combined with leathers and furs, make this collection both perfectly unique and absolutely desirable.
This fabulous collection is comprised of 13 pieces and will be available in selected stores and on the website in October. Watch this space!
The Men are definitely not left out this season with a dapper range of day wear and evening wear, so don't worry about imminent shopping complaints from the man in your life as he will be equally enthralled with this fabulous new range.
As I wandered through the style installation I mentally made my wish list of items that I HAVE to have! My favourites were the gorgeous knitted "love" jumper, the stunning jewelled necklace and the eye-catching leopard platforms, although I could find a place in my wardrobe for every single item.
A huge thank you to Katie Kelly, Press Officer for River Island, Ireland, for the wonderful invitation and a fab interview where she talks us through the collection. (you can check out the video below) Also to Lisa Milmoe, Press assistant for the store. It was a pleasure to meet such an amazing team.
For any of you who don't have a River Island store in your Country, do not despair as they ship internationally from their website www.riverisland.co.uk so happy shopping guys.

Arthur Cox Irish Fashion Event 2012

IMG_8997

I have been given many opportunities since starting this blog at the beginning of 2012, in fact I have had some of the best experiences of my life thanks to "The Sequin Cinderella" and it keeps getting better and better.
Last week I was invited to attend the "Arthur Cox Irish Fashion Event 2012" in the Westin Hotel in Dublin.
Arthur Cox, one of Irelands leading law firms, in conjunction with the Irish International Business Network (IIBN) hosted this fashion showcase event, the first in a series of three events designed to support Irish business, by connecting Irish fashion designers with the business communities in Dublin, London and New York.
I was delighted to be offered the chance to come along early and have some one on one time with the designers where I got to interview them about their collections and their work ethics.
You will see some of these interviews below in my very first video blog which I really hope you enjoy.

This event, hosted by renowned stylist Cathy O Connor, featured the creme de la creme of Irish Talent. The top designers in the Country displayed their finest creations and I was lucky enough to be given a front row seat where I had a perfect view of each and every piece.
There was the fab duo Tyrrell and Brennan who featured everything from business wear with a stylish twist to show stopping red carpet worthy gowns, each one more stunning than the last.
They were followed closely by the super quirky Joanne Hynes whose collection is perfectly unique combining huge statement jewellery with illustrated leather clothing. Definitely for one is not afraid to stand out from the crowd!
Caroline Mitchell wowed the audience with her modernised take on knitwear, proving that it is not reserved only for winter jumpers. Her evening dresses and patterned jumpers were simply stunning.
Mark T Burke is a hot new face on the Irish Fashion Scene making a big name for himself in the world of Millinery. His hats were nothing short of works of art and would fit in anywhere from a day at the races to the stage of a Lady Gaga concert.
We were given an insight into the world of Designer Natalie B Coleman with her diary style collections. Every piece of hers has been inspired by elements of her life or what she feels represents everyday women. My favourite was the collection "All the jewellery I never got" which was inspired by many broken relationships in which she never received any presents of jewellery.
Pauric Sweeney introduced handbags to the show with his exotic combinations of materials and colours. His collection comprised of everything from dainty clutches to oversized day bags with something to suit every age and style.
Finally gracing the catwalk was the fabulous Couture Designer Jen Kelly and his sidekick, Milliner Polly McGettigan. Jen and Polly both come from small cities in Northern Ireland and it was wonderful to hear their success stories and to see their gorgeous collaborations come to life on the runway.
Jen creates the beautiful outfits and Polly designs a perfect hat to compliment the look.
A match made in couture heaven.

The event was brought to a close with a pop-up shop and an opportunity for myself to try on some of the stunning designs. If I had my way I could have left that evening with a piece (or several) from every one of these exceptionally talented designers.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Nicky Crichton from MCsquared PR agency for this wonderful invitation and to each and every one of the Designers for their time during interviews and photographs.
It was a pleasure to meet them all and I very much look forward to meeting them again in the future.
Don't forget, the show will go to London and New York next month so if any of you live in or near either city I would strongly advise you to check it out!
I hope you enjoy their spectacular designs as much as I did.
