Restyling the "LBD" at the FBL Show

Last week I had the wonderful honour of being asked to participate in a Fashion Beauty and Lifestyle show which took place at the Waterfront in Belfast.
You may remember my coverage of the FBL Spring/Summer which took place last April, (Seen Here) It was a hugely successful show and the crew at Our Events NI really pulled out all the stops to make this one even bigger and even better!
My segment of the show was about the staple wardrobe item - The LBD - Little Black Dress and how you can restyle it to make as many different outfits as you desire.
I started with three plain and simple black dresses which I found in H&M for a bargain price of £14.99 and demonstrated how, with some tweaking and the addition of accessories, it can take you to any occasion!
The first look I showed was a Rock Chick style, I did this by adding a spiked Denim Gilet, studded accessories and an Alexander McQueen skull scarf worn as a bandana.
I then showed how the dress could be worn for work by adding a cream tuxedo jacket, black tights and a set of pearls.
The dress wouldn't be out of place for A Day at the Races with my choice of a large rimmed hat with flower detail and a blazer to match.
I then wanted to show how a classic LBD doesn't always have to be worn the way it was intended. I added a sequin jumper over the top to show how it can be seen as a simple black skirt, then for another glam look I wanted to show it as a top so I tucked the dress into a sky blue feather skirt and added a turquoise necklace.
Finally, I showed how the dress can carry it wearers from day to evening by turning it back to front so that the V shape faced forward and adding a frilled white shirt underneath. This look would be perfect for anyone rushing straight from work to an evening function.
To finish off my segment I then ran a competition for the audience, in which three brave volunteers picked a mannequin and styled it to suit their own taste from the table of accessories which I had brought with me from my own wardrobe.
The audience then voted for the winner, Jamie Russell, who chose a grunge theme for his, adding a sloppy hat, my oversized denim jacket and a skull print scarf.
The lucky winner got a prize of a beautiful necklace which was sponsored by "Bejewelled".
As you will notice, I chose to wear the same "LBD" myself from H&M to demonstrate how it looks when worn and how I would style it to suit my personal taste. I decided to keep it casual with a pair of flat studded boots from Zara and a red suede jacket from Mango!
I hope you enjoy the photographs and you will even see some snapshots from the fab catwalk show which I managed to sneak to after my workshop.
